Lubi J A.K.A Louise, started djing in April 2000. After buying decks with a student loan, among the first records she brought was the dark / jump up style of d&b. Already having some brief radio experience, from Hospital radio before university. Lubi J played at a few house parties in Cardiff as well as the odd party at uni. "In my final year I got involved with the student dj society running it alongside Tidal, Xtract & Miracle. I then took over as president in Jan 2002. This enabled us to use both student unions to promote and play at each week. Here I gained a lot of experience and confidence This successful reorganisation of the society earnt us a commendation award and set's at hottest event of the year the Summer Ball! Since leaving uni I have continued with the reggae 'Uprising' that I co-promote in Cardiff's Clwb ifor bach, but I'm also part of an eclectic monthly night called 'Safety', although there is subtle d&b back bone to the night we encourage many styles to the night and have different events on each month. Which have previous included. Rasta jungle specials, Hip-Hop / Funk nights, Live bands and eclectic sets. Our night recently featured a rare eclectic set by High Contrast. Although I enjoy djing in clubs, a great deal I am still very keen on the radio side of djing. So I'm very keen to get System Check Going! Musical History Before d&b, I was very much into more alternative music like Rock, Heavy Metal and Rap metal. The Rap connection made me appreciate Hip-Hop which I started to get into more around 96, through some friends. Form here I went to appreciated d&b more and gradually move away from alternative side. Through college friends and my media course which involved some practical work in radio. This pursed by interest in d&b and Hip-Hop even more.
